Odyssey of the Mind at Don Callejon

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.

DCSCO provides funding for this after school program and Don Callejon has been participating since 2007. Teams start work on their chosen problems starting in October and meet often until the regional competition in March. This is a parent led program that requires parent participation for a successful program.

In 2014, Don Callejon sent it's first Division II team of Middle School Students where they were awarded the Omer award. The highest award a team can achieve. They also placed 3rd in their overall problem solution. Also that year, one of the Division I teams placed 3rd and moved on to State finals in Sacramento.
