SCUSD Bid for Agnews

The Santa Clara Unified School District is in the process of trying to acquire the Old Agnew's Development Center Property on Zanker Road to build a new K-8 and High School.  These new schools could reduce the over enrollment pressure at our school, reduce class size and provide an alternate High School for our graduating students, closer to our neighborhood.

A petition supporting the effort of the SCUSD's bid for this property is being circulated.  In an effort to support the SCUSD bid, DCSCO your Parent Teacher Organization is joining forces with the Santa Clara Unified Parent Teacher Association to inform community members that your support is needed.

This information is being sent to you to inform you about important decisions that may affect your child's education and is not meant to sway your opinion for or against this effort.

At present this petition has over 635 signatures and they need your help to get the message to Sacramento that SCUSD needs this property. Please share this information with your neighbors/friends/group lists if you would like to help them.

Here is the online petition to show support for SCUSD's bid for the Agnews property.

This petition is addressed to Governor Brown. SCUSD along with the PTA are hoping that a groundswell of community support will show our Governor how important this purchase is to our students and our community.  THEY NEED the entire community to let Sacramento and the Governor Brown know that their decisions will affect many future generations in this area, as this is the only viable available property for a school project of this size and scope.

District Meeting...
Join us on November 6 at 6:30 pm in the DCS MPR for a school meeting with the SCUSD School Board and the community to discuss the district's bid for the property and to get community input.

Key Points...
  • There are a lot of high density dwellings being built in the area north of 101.
  • Student enrollment will continue to grow and over crowding could become a problem.
  • Only available land appropriate for a project of this size.
  • SCUSD is not the only interested bidder on this property.

If you are interested in supporting the petition, please sign in at the link above.

Regards,
Your DCSCO Board
